Wednesday, July 21, 2004 Yay ! I got 2nd for the S'pore National Scrabble Championship !!! And I am not a queen geek, thank you very much rebecca ! Anyway, I thought I'd perish on that day because I hadn't learnt all my 2 letter words properly.. Only to be told they would be providing us with the list of 2 & 3 letter words ! Whoopdeedoo. The competition was seriously cool,coool COOL. Very funn! So the first round I played against a guy called Teng Kah Seng from dunnowhat secondary school... Once he put his first word I knew he wasn't an excellent player... So I decided to crush him !! Bwahwahwa !! I got one bingo, 'ordinae' which I didn't know existed or not, but I just put it down. :) In the end, I easily won with a score of 462 with his score being 158 . Total spread : 304 points. +grins. Beccah, auddrey & fensta all won their games as well :)Sometime before the 2nd round, Ms Kang came !! [not to support us, I bet, but to go see a certain scrabble geek...] Before the round started, she whispered in my ear : Hey Laura! Beat the pants off him & prove that you're a cool geek !! And I was like ' Whhhaaattt ! Insult ! ' LOL. I was at table four, and auddrey was at table three ! Yay ! [ the higher your table number, the higher your ranking ] Right next to each other (: She got a higher spread than me in the first round +beams. My second opponent was a guy too, called Al-gene Tan. I decided to crush & slaughter him too :D And for that game, I got a personal high score !! I'm so happy !! I got a score of 550 points ?! Five hundred and fifty points !! That was way fantastic I tell you! My opponent got a score of 200 points... SO the spread for that game was 250 points, and the total spread was 554 points. Very extremely sadly, auddrey lost out on the second round... AUDDREY ! I feel your pain !! Arf. SO screwed up because auddrey's kinda the unofficially best scrabbler! Then I think both fensta & beccah won the second round... While we were in the canteen waiting for the last round, a guy approached me and asked : How old are you? I glared at him & said Whyy? He said 'just tell me laaa.' So I said fifteen. Then he went off to his whole bunch of guy friends, including my last opponent, & teacher, and proclaimed my age. They were all super unhappy I thrashed their player ! Saying it wasn't fair laaa, not right laa... whatever. Knobheads. Annoying !! haha. By the last round I was already almost hyperventilating !! My brain was already burnt out by then !! I was especially nervous because it had been the last round too, at the Scrabble Open where I'd screwed up !! I was supposed to get fourth for the scrabble open, the last time, but I didn't because I lost the last round.. SO I tried to breathe, & tell myself it'd be no big deal.. The last round, I was at the first table.. ahhhhhhhh! Talk about anxiety & pressure. So Ms Kang / Mrs Koh whispered to me again : Don't underestimate him !! Beat the pants off him ! Okay, I will . My next, last & most crucial opponent was a very small, little guy called Chong Xiang ! So small ! He looked like he was primary two? I actually thought he wouldn't be very good, because he was conversing with his friends in dialect , hokkien or something ? I thought his english wouldn't be up to mark. But suprisingly, he was really quite excellent !! He was the best player I'd played against so far. But I still played better (: HAHAHAHA>>> He actually got a bingo worth 70+ points, but I was still leading by 20 points after he bingo-ed :) It was really a good game, but I kinda knew that I had a good chance of winning, based on the fact that his command of english was not exceptionally strong.. I actually put the word 'croon' down & he didn't know.. So he challenged it and got 5 points :) Then in the end, there was a disparity in his score on his sheet and mine... We spent an uber long time calculating the stupid scores up again to find the problem !! SO embarressing because people were already crowding around, watching us.. I think people know my name now :) They asked me who I was and my score !! So then the stewpid man came to adjudicate the thing properly.. HE IS SO MORONIC. He added the scores wrongly! My spread would have been 10 points higher than it was ! COW. So my score for that game was 400 points, Opponent : 356 points. Spread for that game was 44 points and the total spread was 598 points !! ERF. After that I was really quite drained.. very sleepy and all. That round, fensta very tragically lost her last game !! SO so sad. Then mr koh came out to tell us that St Margaret's had an overall placing of 3rd !! :) And also that I'd got second place !! +grins. HAHA>> Super excitingly happy !! So beccah & I went back to the hall together.. and I saw all the nerdy, geeky lower sec [probably] guys faces turn towards me, and I was like WOOOPS. yuck. SO anyway anyway, Siu Hean presented the prizes :) When I went up to get my trophy, I also got a inflatable scrabble set and a pack of uno cards . Then as I was shaking hands with Siu Hean, he said : Smile for your teacher !! Because the kohster was taking pix . Then when he was giving me the inflatable scrabble set he said : Get your teacher to blow it up for you !! HAHAHA>> funny. Then, I couldn't be bothered to walk all the way down, so I just jumped off the stage ! Aiyarhh. Idiotic kohster. He snatched my trophy after the ceremony because he said he had to present it to me in front of everyone in school ! Dang. And stewpid beccah didn't help. +rolls. I am SO hurt ! Anyway, I asked him to announce Beccah's name as well, but he didn't oblige. +pouts. arrrh. The on sunday... +faints. The people we were playing with were mr koh's scrabble buddies?? Like what theeeee. Okay FINE. SO anyway, I played against a girl called JoBeth, & she completely massacred me. It's so embarressing !! My score was so extremely low... JoBeth is an intermediate player for goodness sake! Then, during the game she got 3 bingos consecutively ! I promise, I was fainting okay. In the end, my score was 307 , to 486 ! Total spread was -176 . Highly upsetting ! Then I played aginst a guy called marcus, and I won . :D The third game I won as well, as was the fourth game... So in the end, I won 3 games out of 4 ! Arh. So sad. ): But kohster said he'd treat us if we won .. 3 games? Was it 3? If it is then... HAHAHA>>> I get 2 treats ! +beams. ooh. I'm so mean. Anyway, I got an overall ranking of 9th place.. Which completely sucked. But then again, my ranking was only 4 places below the girl who defeated me.. oh well ! It's the experience that counts I suppose. My hk exchange student is here ! Her name is Kitty, & she looks like ... Hello Kitty ! harhar. She's really quite sweet and innocent - ish.. We've been to alot of places in S'pore already.. Like the Esplanade etc.. Problem is, I'm so tired & sleepy.. I can't seem to sleep properly.. & I'm quite exasperated because there are loads of things I have to do, which I usually do at night, but now my mum says : No, you can't ! Go to bed ! etc. AIyarh. And in school, if I'm seen without her, people will scold me ! They'll say : 'Laura ! You so bad! Leave her all alone.' I have my own life too you know. She wanders off by herself with the other hk girl, talking & chatting etc, or talking to other people, and I'm supposed to follow her ? She just goes off! I spend the rest of the day with her, I don't have to spend every minute with her do i? But Im not like bitter or anything ! She was so funny in tuition today !! I bet ms chow's eyes were practically popping out & she was forcing herself not to yell .. HAHAHA>> Funny. Anyway, I screwed up my exams ! I expected it though. I'm probably going to get last in my class, but i'm not that bothered. I'm not going to weep, because it's not as if I'd tried & failed. I didn't try and failed. So I now know what I have to do ! (: I can't be bothered to blog anymore. It takes so long ! Byeee.ps. Sorry all debators ! I love you all ! The picture turned out really nicely !!
